Ascentic teams build AI solutions in 24-hour hackathon

Ascentic wrapped up its first company-wide hackathon last weekend, with 67 employees participating in AITHON 2026 at our Colombo headquarters..
For 24 hours, cross-functional teams tackled real business challenges using AI technology. 12 teams presented solutions ranging from workflow automation to customer-facing tools, evaluated by industry judges Sheran Corera (Docupath), Thiru Dinesh (Rootcode), and Dilshan Silva (Krane).
The hackathon brought together employees from across Ascentic - developers, QA engineers, designers, recruiters, and administrative staff - to collaborate on projects emphasizing responsible AI implementation and practical problem-solving.
"This wasn't just about the technology," said Dilini Rajapakse, Head of Business & Innovation. "It was about proving that when we create space for experimentation and cross-functional collaboration, our team is capable of remarkable work."
The event highlighted Ascentic's commitment to innovation and its philosophy that AI should enhance human capabilities rather than replace them. AITHON 2026 represents Ascentic's ongoing investment in creating a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
